Everything here is free to read, in full, with nothing held back and no account required. That isn't a promotional tactic. A book arguing that a community should be open and unguarded ought to be open and unguarded itself.
If it has been useful and you'd like to help it reach further, you can support the work. Nothing about the book changes either way, and nothing is withheld from anyone who doesn't.
What support would pay for
- Hosting and the domain — keeping the book online and freely available.
- Legal review — the most valuable expense by far, so the model documents get sharper and better grounded.
- A print edition — for people who want a physical book, and for libraries.
- Translation — making the material useful beyond English.
Not accepting contributions yet. Doing this properly means settling the legal and tax structure first — whether the project runs as a nonprofit, under a fiscal sponsor, or simply as one person's undertaking — because that determines whether a contribution is tax-deductible for you and how it's reported. When that's settled it will be stated plainly here, along with where the money actually goes.
Things that help more than money
- Share it with someone who'd find it useful — especially someone sceptical.
- Tell us what's wrong. Corrections on the law, on the practice, on anything unclear or badly argued make the next revision better.
- Use the documents. The constitution and templates exist to be adapted. If they help you build something real, we'd like to hear about it.
